“I love supporting innovative brands that disrupt the industry and do it unapologetically. Cerese D jewelry is bold, fearless, and made for those who aren’t afraid to make a statement.”
For women: Let a statement piece shine by pairing it with neutral or monochrome outfits. Keep the rest of your look sleek and minimal so the jewelry takes center stage.
For men: Layering is everything. Try a bold chain over a classic button-up or sweater for an effortless yet stylish touch. The key? Confidence—own the look!

With all of her efforts to be a positive influence for others, McKay knows she is simply a part of a bigger picture and greater path. Celebrating 105 years of finer womanhood with the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, McKay acknowledges being a cobblestone in the powerful testament to the enduring legacy of this remarkable sisterhood. Since its founding on January 16, 1920, by Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, Fannie Pettie Watts, and Pearl Anna Neal, Zeta Phi Beta has continued to uphold its mission of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. This milestone marks over a century of leadership, advocacy, and empowerment, with members making significant contributions to their communities and society at large. Whether through initiatives like Zeta’s National Educational Foundation, Amicae (auxiliary group for professional women to be affiliated with Zeta and assist the sorority with providing positive, proactive, and far-reaching community service), or the Stork’s Nest Program (a cooperative project, launched originally in Atlanta, Georgia, of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the March of Dimes Foundation aiming to increase the number of women receiving early and regular prenatal care in an effort to prevent cases of low birthweight, premature births and infant deaths), the sorority has continually inspired generations of women to live lives of purpose and impact. As McKay and her Sisters of Zeta Phi Beta reflect on this monumental achievement, the ladies honor not only the trailblazing visionaries who founded the organization but also the countless women who have carried the torch forward, shaping history and advancing social justice for future generations.
In recognition of her leadership and commitment to Zeta Phi Beta, McKay was honored to become not only the thirteenth, but the first Elected State Director for Georgia in October 2022. Under her guidance, the state achieved historic milestones, including having the largest membership in all of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Her approach to leadership—rooted in shared knowledge, shared ownership, and inclusivity—has been instrumental in helping Georgia earn international recognition placing second in the Power of S.H.E. Impact Awards (Social, Health, and Economic Justices), a testament to the significant growth and impact of the State of Georgia’s sisterhood under her direction following the guidance of International President and CEO Dr. Staci NC Grant.
A firm believer in the power of collective action, McKay is guided by the belief that “when we know better, we do better.” She emphasizes the importance of shared knowledge and learning from others, no matter their background or station in life. She uses this philosophy to foster an environment of growth and empowerment for her colleagues and mentees, encouraging them to learn, lead, and ultimately leave their own legacies. When she asked a state board member, Elizabeth Gibson, Esq.,within the sorority to transition to a new role wanting to give more emphasis to The Power of S.H.E., Gibson had an epiphany. As Gibson looked deeper into the sorority’s international initiative, she realized, “The revenue I made for the firm last year could have been mine.” This is when she stepped out on faith and believed in The Power of SHE! She is now the owner of The Givens Gibson Firm in Albany, Georgia. Amazed at the unintentional impact, McKay took this inspiration of feedback as a message to continue shining a light for others. We never know how it may manifest nor where it may illuminate.

Her advocacy has led to key investments in grocery stores and affordable housing developments, bringing much-needed amenities to Southwest Atlanta. A true advocate for reliable transportation, Councilmember Overstreet is committed to ensuring that all residents, especially those in need, have access to safe and dependable transit options. She has been instrumental in advancing transportation initiatives that improve mobility, including advocating for infrastructure upgrades that enhance pedestrian safety and expand access to public transit while actively connecting neighborhoods to enhanced green spaces.

At the heart of Brigitta’s life are her family and her career—two pillars that sustain her. She shares a deep, affectionate bond with her husband and children, fostering a home filled with love, laughter, and mutual growth. The balance she maintains between her professional endeavors and family life is central to her happiness and success.
The journey has not been without its challenges. Brigitta’s path has been strewn with obstacles from global financial crises to personal losses, like the passing of her father. However, her response to these challenges has always been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a focus on turning setbacks into growth opportunities.

As Tammy has grown older, she has come to understand two things: first, she has a talent for bringing people together, and second, many women lack the balance and harmony in their lives necessary to flourish and support others. Because of her knack for uniting people, she’s been described as a “connector” (ConnectHER). Tammy wants everyone to feel included and valued, which fosters a sense of belonging and community.

Dr. Jylla first met Deborah Dolman, VP of Business Development of Cerese D Jewelry, at an Odyssey Network Conference during the startup days of the business. As she admired the luxurious, one-of-a-kind statement pieces, a conversation was orchestrated by mutual friend Cheryl Walker Robertson. It was the moment that led to many crossroads on their future journeys. The memory of the special feeling of connecting spirits that sisters immediately recognize was cemented by their mutual appreciation for quality and the beauty of a unique, statement piece.
The Smithsonian National Museum for African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington, DC was the perfect backdrop for an evening of elegance to wear and showcase Cerese D Jewelry in 2016 on opening night at the Museum. Dr. Jylla who had been appointed as the 2020 Centennial Commission Chair for Zeta, thought of the partnership and collaboration skills learned from her mentor, Dr. Dorothy I. Height, NCNW President and CEO, as she walked through the Museum. A seed was planted for Zeta’s Centennial Founders’ Day to be inclusive of Cerese D Jewelry.
The threads of this article are stories of Intentional JOY. The examples shared serve to frame who Dr. Jylla is as an “Encore Leader”, the storyline of her dissertation. With a passion to help people find “What’s Next?”, the story continues. Recently landing at the Atlanta airport, she immediately observed a display case that invited passengers to visit the Cerese D Jewelry location at gate B29. It was a moment of “intentional joy” to witness the continued innovation and creativity in building a brand while giving travelers around the world the opportunity to experience the brand.
